Registration and Screenings
How can I watch a film?
You must create a Festival Scope account and purchase a virtual ticket! It is ridiculously easy: click here. Once you have an account, just visit www.festivalscope.com and add the titles you're interested in watching to your basket.
How many times can I watch a film?
Each film may be viewed only once, but you can restart at any time where you left off. Remember to check the availability dates for each film.
Why can I see a film only once?
This is for security reasons. We don't want users to pass their log in details to other people. If you wish to invite a friend to watch a film, please suggest him/her to register!
I am a film professional member of Festival Scope Pro, do I need to register again?
Yes, this initiative is addressed to the general audience and is based on a separated registration system. Please contact us at email@example.com if you have any questions.
I had to interrupt a screening, will I be able to start back from where I left off?
Yes! The next time you choose to watch the film, it will automatically start from where you left off, even if you use a different digital device.
Can I rewind the film if I missed a scene?
Yes, you can rewind approximately 5 minutes to watch the scene you missed.
I forgot to pause the film and I missed more than 5 minutes. What can I do to solve this issue?
Send us a request for an extra screening to firstname.lastname@example.org! Please use with moderation...
For how long is a film available for screening on Festival Scope?
Each event has a different duration. Please check the event page for further information.
Why may my name be displayed on the film?
This is a security measure requested by rights holders in some specific cases.
Why do some films have a time-code or another mark on the image?
The rights holders provide us with the video source, and they may choose to use a time-code or another mark on the image for extra security reasons. Most films we show are brand new and some rights holders are extremely careful not to have it leaked.
Can I download a film?
Nope, the films can only be streamed. Downloading is not allowed.
Which payment methods are accepted?
You can pay by debit / credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Amex) or by PayPal.
Can I receive an invoice?
You will automatically receive by e-mail a receipt of your purchase. If you need an invoice, please contact us at email@example.com
I was playing the film but the video looked choppy and my screening was interrupted, what's that about?
In most cases it's due to a slow or unstable Internet connection. Please try with an alternative connection.
Also please make sure your computer meets the system requirements:
- At least 2 GB RAM
- At least 2 Ghz processing power
The following recommendations can also improve your system's potential to view the films:
- Shut down all other programs
- Try switching to a lower quality
- Try using the Google Chrome browser (which uses less resources)
- Restart your computer and don't do anything else except starting Chrome and watching the film
You can also try with a different computer if the issue still occurs.
How can I watch films on Festival Scope with my iPad device?
You can download the Festival Scope Player for iOS from iTunes. You will find a selection of titles in the "Films" section of the app and will be able to play any title available on the site through the player.
What about my Android device?
Festival Scope is not fully compatible with Android devices. In order to watch films with an Android device you can try to download the Photon app (or similar apps which allow Adobe Flash viewing on mobile devices) from Google Play (the quality of the viewing may depend on the device model too, so we cannot guarantee full compatibility at this stage). We are working on a specific Android app, so bear with us for the full experience!
I clicked on "Watch Film" but the film doesn't start. Why?
Please try to reload the page. Don't forget to make sure you have an up-to-date version of Flash installed (if you don't have one, you can download it for free here).
Which browser should I use to access Festival Scope?
Festival Scope is compatible with the latest versions of Internet browsers. We do not guarantee full compatibility with Internet Explorer 6, 7 and 8. Please make sure to update your browser regularly to fully benefit from the platform.
What technology do you use to show films?
We use HTTP Live Streaming and Flash Player. All films are encoded using the codec H264 and in various bitrates, including HD to assure the best possible quality.
Why does the image quality of the films change sometimes?
The quality of the image depends on the quality of the source we receive from rights holders to encode films. Please consider that we always use the best available material.
Do you show films in High Definition (HD)?
Yes, we show films in HD whenever the rights holder is able to provide us with a HD file of the film. You will need a powerful connection to set the quality to HD!
Can I watch films using my TV or video projector?
Yes you can. In order to watch films on your TV or by using a video projector you need a PC-to-TV or PC-to-projector cable. You can also connect using Apple TV (as long as you have the latest OS system installed on Mac), ChromeCast or a similar device.
If you encounter problems please let us know and we'll do our best to help you.
