This film chronicles a miraculous and tender process of the creation of a forest. Over the course of several decades, Jadav “Molai” Payeng planted and tended trees on a sandbar of the river Brahmaputra turning it into a forest reserve, which added “Padma Shri” to his name. It documents the destruction of the largest river island- Majuli by the influence of climatic forces, on the same river in the same region separated by a physical distance of only three kilometres. It also documents the life of the communities living in these islands revealing their struggle, passion and confusions and how a primitive and traditional way of living has been shattered due to the climatic changes in their habitat caused by man made errors.
