Synopsis

The Perfect Patient is the captivating story about the biggest legal scandal in Swedish history, the story about the reporter who questioned an entire legal system and a journalistic thriller about a man who sacrificed everything in his search for truth. Hannes Råstam was dedicated to proving the innocence of Thomas Quick and unmask the legal chaos which sentenced Quick to a life in psychiatric prison. However, no one was interested in exonerating and freeing the worst serial killer in Sweden, a cannibalistic rapist who had been sentenced for eight murders and confessed to another twenty-five. This tale lays out a puzzle for the viewer to put together as the incredible story behind the Thomas Quick case is laid bare piece by piece.

About the director

Mikael Håfström is an award winning director and screenwriter, born in Lund, Sweden 1960. He has studied film at the University of Stockholm and attended the School of Visual Arts in New York. Mikael made his directing debut with Swedish crime films Hassel in the early nineties which led to several feature films as well as series, and eventually landing him the the Oscar nominated Evil (2003) The film opened up many doors and Mikael continued his work overseas. He went on to direct such movies as Derailed with Jennifer Aniston and Clive Owen, 1408 with John Cusack, The Rite with Anthony Hopkins and several episodes of the hit Netflix series Bloodline.
