Ce film dresse le portrait de Bernie Krause, musicien et bioacousticien vivant a Sonoma en Californie, qui depuis plus de cinquante ans parcourt le monde pour enregistrer les sons d’habitats naturels sauvages, terrestres et marins. Krause contemple le monde naturel en poète, écoute les vocalisations des animaux en musicien et, à travers ses enregistrements, les étudie en scientifique. Le film est à la fois une ode et une élégie – une célébration de la splendeur sonore et un appel solennel au changement. Il est presente a l’occasion de l’exposition The Great Animal Orchestra a Exploratorium, San Francisco (9 juin-15 octobre 2023).

For more than fifty years, American musician and “soundscape ecologist” Bernie Krause has traveled the world recording the sounds of animals in their natural habitats. Bernie sends us an urgent message about the climate emergency and the fragility of the wild world. The film delves into the world of a passionate man who was the first to hear the song of the world and who contends that if we want to preserve it, we must learn to listen. The film is presented on the occasion of the exhibition The Great Animal Orchestra) at Exploratorium in San Francisco (June 10-October 15, 2023).
