Synopsis

Caterina and Yahya have been friends since school. She comes from Cengio, a small town in the Ligurian hinterland, where her father, her grandfather, and generations of her family were born. He comes from Morocco, from a small mountain village near Marrakech. They spend their afternoons filming the world around them: forests and rivers, abandoned houses, and above all the ruins of the factory — the poison industry that once shaped the life of the entire area, and that no one here has forgotten. One day, deep in the woods, they stumble upon a secluded farmhouse. A very old man lives there, alone. Drawn by curiosity, they return again and again, until one afternoon he finally invites them inside.

Caterina e Yahya sono amici dai tempi della scuola. Lei viene da Cengio, un piccolo paese dell’entroterra ligure, dove sono nati suo padre, suo nonno e generazioni della sua famiglia. Lui viene dal Marocco, da un piccolo villaggio di montagna vicino a Marrakech. Trascorrono i pomeriggi filmando il mondo che li circonda: boschi e fiumi, case abbandonate e, soprattutto, le rovine della fabbrica — l’industria tossica che un tempo ha plasmato la vita dell’intera zona e che qui nessuno ha dimenticato. Un giorno, nel cuore del bosco, si imbattono in una fattoria isolata. Lì vive un uomo molto anziano, da solo. Spinti dalla curiosità, tornano più e più volte, finché un pomeriggio lui li invita finalmente a entrare.
