TIGERS CAN BE SEEN IN THE RAIN
Synopsis
With cinematography by Pablo Álvarez-Mesa and sound by Mercedes Gaviria, a bodiless, timeless voice unfolds across the city. Static 16mm shots depict an ordinary, contemporary world through which feet move, pause—and yet remain orphaned of the memory of home that this voice summons, to which this voice returns us. Gradually, and through another register of home video recordings on Video8, the voice guides the viewer into the childhood world of its director, Óscar Ruiz Navia (Papeto), in Cali. The voice we hear is that of his sister—the absence of his sister. Snow settles over some city in Canada. Will a lost love come to visit us in our dreams?
