Pluk de Nacht (Seize the Night) is the largest outdoor film festival in the Netherlands, dedicated to sharing a quality international programme of feature films, documentaries, animations and short films that haven’t been screened in Dutch cinemas, or which have only reached a very limited audience.

The festival takes place every summer for eleven days in Amsterdam and nine days in Utrecht. During the festival, the Stenen Hoofd, an outcropping on the IJ, the harbor north of the city center, becomes an under-the-stars living room for Amsterdammers looking to discover new movies — and anyone else looking to enjoy a cool summer night outside with friends. In Utrecht, the festival has found a new home at the Campus Werkspoor, located at Nijverheidsweg 16. This former industrial area, with its impressive industrial backdrop, is currently being transformed into a cultural hotspot in Utrecht.

Most screened films are English-language or in another language provided with English subtitles. The festival serves as a meeting place for lovers of film, art and new media, as well as food, drinks and parties. Pluk de Nacht brings viewers in contact with edgy independent works they might never otherwise explore.
